Import/Export of Course Components

Once your course content is ready, you must move it from your Reference Course to your Official Course by importing or copying it.

Import/Export/Copy Components

Unlike OWL Sakai, OWL Brightspace is very flexible when it comes to importing, exporting, or copying course components between different courses. This means that you are not restricted to copying an entire course to be able to reuse a quiz or assignment in another course. Rather, you can select to copy the specific quiz and its associated files to another course. This feature is not only available for quizzes, but other course components such as Content Topics, Assignments, Discussion topics, and more.

Word of caution, unlike OWL Sakai, there is no option to OVERRIDE imported components.

This means that if you import course components with names that already exist in the course, or you import multiple components with the same name, duplicate names appear; they are not overwritten.

For example, if your course contains a Discussion Topic called Exam Review and you import a course package that contains a Discussion Topic called Exam Review, your course will contain two topics called Exam Review.
